SILK CARE

Washing
We recommend washing silk products by hand, even those garments labeled machine washable. In case, please cycle delicately and use mild detergent (such as Woolite). In case of hard water, you may add a tablespoonful of borax to the washing water. Use lukewarm water and mild, non-alkaline soap (such as Ivory Liquid) or baby shampoo. While rinsing, you may add a few tablespoonfuls of distilled white vinegar to the rinse water to neutralize alkali traces and to dissolve soap residue. Alternatively, add a few drops of hair conditioner to the final rinse water. Do not use harsh detergents that contain enzymes, bleaches or brighteners. Soaking silk for more than a few minutes should be avoided. Use the shortest spin cycle. Do not wring or twist; roll in towel to extract water. Do not wet locally as this may cause rings.

Drying
Hang silk garments to dry. Avoid drying silk in direct sunlight as it will damage the silk fabric. We do not recommend drying silk in a dryer since the silk fabric may shrink and heat can dull, pucker or burn silk fabric.

Ironing
Turn the silk garment inside out and steam iron with low temperature. Most wrinkles in silk can be removed by hanging the garment in the bathroom during a shower. Let humidity do the ironing for you!

General Precautions
Substances containing alcohol will damage the silk fabric. So let your perfume and hairspray dry before dressing.
